The Lot River
Rising from the Cévennes Mountains, the Lot River, the 7th longest in France, meanders 491 kilometres (305 miles) through fertile valleys and gorges cut through limestone plateaus before merging with the Garonne River near Aiguillon.

Cahors
Enfolded within a meander of the River Lot, Cahors, City of Art and History, is just waiting to be explored.

Villeneuve-sur-Lot
The Grand Villeneuvois provides visitors with an extremely rich architectural and natural heritage including a a great number of sites of interest.

Pujols
The medieval city of Pujols, perched at more than 180m above sea level, dominated the bastide of Villeneuve-sur-Lot.

Penne-d'Agenais
Located along the pilgrimage path of Saint Jacques de Compostelle, you’ll soon be charmed by the surrounding countryside and breathtaking views.

Things to Do

Explore the Vineyards
Visiting the vineyards, and visits to individual estates are almost always accompanied by the wine maker him/herself. Who better to tell you about their own product, and to give you a tasting? Do go and meet them. They’re always happy to talk about their land, even if you know nothing whatsoever about wine.

Horse Riding
Located just a 22 minute drive away, visit Centre Equestre Equi-Age for horse riding for just 17 euros an hour. There is also Ecurie de Roctaillade just 13 minutes away.

River and Lake Fishing
Le Lot is a very popular fishing area with lovely Rivers & Canals with amazing scenery. Great for Carp fishing, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Pike and Zander can also be found in these these waters too! You can gain a Fishing Permit from Tabacs, Sport Shop or on the internet.

Golf
Villeneuve-sur- Lot is one of the best 18-hole courses in Aquitaine with greens of incredible quality throughout the year, a gastronomic restaurant, a swimming pool, tennis court and a health and beauty salon. Villeneuve-sur-Lot Golf & Country Club

Boat Hire & Boat Trips
A boat cruise on the Lot waters is an excellent way to discover the numerous treasures of this valley. You can hire these from La Capitainerie Port de Penne. We also offer our very own boat to hire too.
Alternatively, visit Tourisme Fumel for information about a 14km boat trip (1h 20 mins) from Fumel to Orgueil dyke, at the borders of Agenais and Quercy
Along your journey you will take in mills, locks and fortified medieval which are all witnesses of the region’s past.
